Thurlestone Juniors through to the Tamar Cup Final

It was always going to be a tough match as many of the boys play as team mates for Devon County but today their team mates were the opposition!

William Hoskin was first out giving 4 shots to his opponent. The front 9 was close but Staddon seemed to be in control until William won holes 8 and 9 to go 1 up on the turn. William won the 10th then halved the next 6 holes! He won on the 17th 3&1.

Jake Brooker was next out and got 13 shots. This game started very even but Jake soon settled in to his game and was 3 up through 9. Jake lost holes 10 and 11 as the intense heat got the better of him, by 14 it was all square.

In the mean time, the foursome of George Inch and Ollie Chester had a tough game against the Staddon pair who didn't miss a fairway all day. Unfortunately we lost this game on the 16th 4&3.

So now with 1 game each it was down to Jake to get us through. He dug his heels in and took his match to the 18th and with a crowd watching on he won 2up.

The final is to be played at Elfordleigh on 7th October against Exeter or St Mellion.
